<![CDATA[This article describes a health anthropology study of fracture treatment decision-making in Barru District, located 100 km north of Makassar City, the capital of South Sulawesi Province. In this region, almost every sub- district has traditional medical practitioners capable of treating fractures, as well as modern healers at La Patari Regional General Hospital who provide fracture healing services through a surgical clinic. The community has a choice between traditional and modern health services to treat fractures.This study used qualitative methods with a qualitative approach. Informants were purposively selected, consisting of 18 people including fracture sufferers, their families, and healers. The results showed that fracture sufferers' knowledge of their fracture condition was based on several indicators, such as abnormal bone shape, bone penetrating the skin, reduced energy, and pain when moved. X-ray examination also strengthens the patient's understanding of their fracture condition. The understanding of fracture risk is gained from observing other people with fractures and other conditions that co-occur with fractures, such as problems with the flesh. This knowledge influences the treatment decision-making process, where the patient and family caregiver will discuss the treatment methods to be used, either with one treatment method or a combination of two methods carried out alternately or simultaneously. Factors that influence the decision-making process in utilizing health services for people with fractures in Barru District include knowledge about the fracture condition, sources of treatment, information from surrounding people, comfort of the family caregiver, and economic factors related to medical expenses. These factors are interconnected and are a consideration for patients and families in choosing the treatment sector that is considered appropriate.]]>
