This study is motivated by the low student interest in mathematics learning, where only 55% of students showed adequate learning interest during the pre-cycle observation at grade V SD Negeri 014/I Sungai Baung. This study aims to describe the use of Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model in improving student learning interest in mathematics, to analyze the improvement of student learning interest, and to identify the obstacles encountered during its implementation. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in one cycle, using a combined qualitative and quantitative approach. The research subjects were the grade V classroom teacher and 17 grade V students consisting of 10 female and 7 male students. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques and analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques with percentage formulas. The research success indicator was achieved when at least 85% of students reached the high learning interest category. The results showed that the use of AR-based learning media significantly improved student learning interest in mathematics, from 55% in the pre-cycle to 85% of students reaching the high learning interest category in cycle I, successfully meeting the predetermined success indicator. Students demonstrated increased attention, active participation, and enjoyment toward teaching and learning activities using AR media. This study is expected to serve as a reference for teachers in implementing technology-based innovative learning media in elementary schools.
