<![CDATA[Through the application of critical reading techniques, this research aims to improve the skills of analysing the language rules of the description text in students in class IX A of SMPN 2 Munjungan. The method used in this research is carried out with a descriptive qualitative approach that uses 2 cycles, each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects in the study totalled 21 students. In data collection using the observation method and the test of reading the descriptive text. This data was analysed qualitatively descriptively, thus producing research that shows that the application of critical reading can improve the ability to analyse students' language rules in descriptive texts. In the data of cycle I, the average ability score of students reached 69.05 with the completion rate of not reaching the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). The average score increased after the improvement in learning which became 80.9 in cycle II data and all students have achieved scores above KKM.]]>
