<![CDATA[Character education plays a crucial role in instilling the values of honesty, discipline, and responsibility in students from an early age. In Indonesia, this effort has been facilitated through the Character Education Strengthening Movement (PPK) to hone students' morality in schools. However, the reality on the ground still shows that academic cheating practices, such as copying friends' answers or engaging in discussions during independent assignments, are still common. This observation aims to examine these behaviors and determine their relationship to character education. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through direct observation, it was found that cheating tendencies are not only carried out by students with low abilities, but also by those who are academically quite good. This suggests that the achievement of cognitive values is not fully aligned with the practice of honesty. Therefore, character education needs to be implemented continuously through examples from teachers and through classroom practices. This way, students' academic development can be balanced with their honest character.]]>
