The rapid development of digital technology has provided many benefits to society, but it has also created challenges for family resilience and harmony. One of the most concerning issues is the increasing prevalence of online gambling, which can be easily accessed through the internet. This study aims to analyze the impact of online gambling on family harmony through the case of a family murder in Ciputat, South Tangerang. This research employed a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from scientific journals, books, research reports, and other relevant literature discussing online gambling, family resilience, economic pressure, mental health, and family communication. The findings reveal that online gambling may lead to financial losses, debt accumulation, household conflicts, mental health problems, and declining family communication. The Ciputat case illustrates how the combination of gambling addiction, severe economic pressure, and weak family resilience can develop into a crisis that results in extreme actions. From an Islamic perspective, online gambling is prohibited because its harmful effects outweigh its benefits and threaten the protection of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth. Therefore, strengthening religious values, effective family communication, digital literacy, and family resilience is essential to prevent the negative impacts of online gambling and maintain family harmony in the digital era.
