Islamic Education in the National Education System is a central topic in the development of education in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the position and role of Islamic Education in the National Education System in Indonesia based on Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education System (Sisdiknas). This research uses a qualitative approach with library research method by examining various primary and secondary sources related to Islamic education and national education policy. The results of the study indicate that Islamic Education has a strong legal foundation in the National Education System and plays a strategic role in building student character. However, challenges remain in curriculum integration, teacher quality, and funding equity. Strengthening Islamic Education requires synergy between government, educational institutions, and the community to achieve national education goals. It is concluded that Islamic Education is an integral part of the National Education System and contributes significantly to the formation of a faithful, pious, and noble human being.
