ANTENA YAGI FREKUENSI 2.4 GHZ SEBAGAI PENINGKATKAN DAYA TERIMA WIRELESS USB ADAPTER TERHADAP SINYAL WIFI

Abstract

The public's need for fast and stable access to data and information has driven the development of wireless network technologies such as WiFi. However, limited signal range often hinders optimal internet connection performance. This research aims to design and test a Yagi antenna operating at 2.4 GHz as a WiFi signal booster for wireless USB adapter devices. The methods used included literature review, antenna element design based on wavelength, physical assembly of the antenna, and WiFi signal quality testing with and without a Yagi antenna at distances of 30 m to 120 m. Measurements were conducted using a WiFi analyzer application. The results showed that the Yagi antenna can improve signal reception by increasing the RSSI value by 2 to 4 dBm, and maintain an internet connection even at previously unreachable distances. The Yagi antenna is effective in extending the range and stability of WiFi signals, and is a practical and economical solution for signal amplification in limited areas. Kebutuhan masyarakat terhadap akses data dan informasi yang cepat dan stabil mendorong pengembangan teknologi jaringan nirkabel seperti WiFi. Namun, keterbatasan jangkauan sinyal seringkali menjadi kendala dalam memperoleh koneksi internet yang optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan menguji antena Yagi yang bekerja pada frekuensi 2.4 GHz sebagai penguat sinyal WiFi pada perangkat wireless USB adapter. Metode yang digunakan meliputi studi literatur, perancangan elemen antena berdasarkan panjang gelombang, perakitan fisik antena, serta pengujian kualitas sinyal WiFi dengan menggunakan antena yagi dan tanpa antena Yagi pada jarak 30 m hingga 120 m. Pengukuran dilakukan mengunakan aplikasi wifi analyzer. Hasil menunjukkan antena Yagi mampu meningkatkan daya terima sinyal, dengan meningkatkan nilai RSSI antara 2 hingga 4 dBm, serta memungkinkan koneksi internet tetap tersedia meskipun berada pada jarak yang sebelumnya tidak dapat dijangkau. Antena Yagi efektif dalam memperluas jangkauan dan meningkatkan stabilitas sinyal WiFi, serta menjadi solusi praktis dan ekonomis dalam penguatan sinyal di area terbatas.
