Abstract

A child's identity does not emerge in isolation. It takes shape within the family, molded by the way parents educate, communicate, and instill values day by day. In Muslim families, parenting practices are inseparable from parents' religious understanding, including how they interpret hadiths oriented toward the Hereafter. This study aims to examine the relationship between parents' understanding of Hereafter-oriented hadiths and their parenting practices in supporting children's identity development. A quantitative correlational approach was employed with a population of parents from the Al-Qolam Foundation congregation in Bondowoso Regency. A sample of 30 respondents was selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using JASP version 0.95.3.0. All instruments were declared valid and reliable, and the data met the assumptions for parametric analysis. The Pearson correlation test yielded a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.680 with a significance level of p < 0.001, categorized as a strong relationship. The deeper parents' understanding of Hereafter-oriented hadiths, the more constructive their parenting tends to be in supporting children's identity development. This study confirms that a well-rounded understanding of hadith encourages parents to practice parenting that is not only spiritually oriented, but also responsive to children's developmental needs in accordance with Islamic values.
