<![CDATA[In Indonesia, cooperatives play an important role as an instrument of people's economy as mandated by Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. Along with increasing public awareness of Islamic economic practices, Sharia cooperatives have emerged as an alternative institution that integrates cooperative values with Islamic economic principles.This study aims to analyze the urgency of implementing Sharia principles in cooperative institutions in Indonesia from theological, philosophical, juridical, sociological, and economic perspectives. The research employs a library research method by examining relevant literature, regulations, and references related to cooperatives and Islamic economics.The results indicate that the implementation of Sharia principles in cooperatives is essential because it provides an economic alternative that avoids elements of riba, gharar, and maysir. Furthermore, cooperative values such as mutual cooperation, solidarity, and justice are aligned with the Islamic concept of ta'awun. Sharia cooperatives apply various contracts, including mudharabah, musyarakah, murabahah, and ijarah, emphasizing partnership and risk-sharing mechanisms. Although Sharia cooperatives still face challenges such as limited Islamic financial literacy, human resource constraints, and governance issues, they have significant potential to support community empowerment and strengthen the national economy.]]>
