Abstract

Life balance is a harmonious condition among personal, social, and work-related aspects that plays an important role in improving individual well-being. Various psychological factors are assumed to influence a person’s ability to achieve life balance, including stress, emotion regulation, personality, and social support. This study aims to examine psychological factors affecting life balance based on previous research findings. The method used was a literature review by searching articles through Google Scholar, DOAJ, and indexed international journals using the keywords life balance, psychological well-being, stress, emotion regulation, personality, and social support. Of the 125 articles identified, 25 met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that emotion regulation and social support contribute positively to life balance, whereas stress and certain personality characteristics, particularly neuroticism, tend to reduce individuals’ life balance. These findings suggest that life balance results from the interaction between internal and external factors that influence one another. Therefore, developing emotion regulation skills, managing stress, and strengthening social support should be considered important efforts to improve individuals’ life balance.
