<![CDATA[The massive increase in waste accumulation in Indonesia indicatesthat sustainable waste management, especially in rural areas, hasnot been optimally implemented. This qualitative study aims toanalyze the role of the NGOMPAS (Ngobrol Perkara Sampah)community in supporting behavioral transformation among thecommunity towards green consumerism behavior. This behavior isdefined as actions that do not pollute the environment, such as notlittering and minimizing waste accumulation. Furthermore, greenconsumerism has seven indicators that assess the change from oldconsumer to new consumer. Primary data was obtained throughin-depth interviews and field observations using linear snowballsampling and descriptive analysis, while secondary data wasobtained through supporting literature. The researchers' findingsinclude that NGOMPAS is the result of the collective mechanicalsocial solidarity of residents who play a role in reducing waste andencouraging the transformation of community behavior towardsgreen consumerism through environmental and social actions.There are seven indicators for measuring green consumerism. Thecommunity of Tegal Waru Village is undergoing a paradigm shiftthrough environmental actions, or what is known as theenvironmental movement, which considers various aspects ofsustainability. However, the NGOMPAS program is considered notyet fully optimal due to the lack of active community involvementand minimal formal institutional support from the village. Thus,community-based waste management supports the gradualtransformation of green consumerism behavior in ruralcommunities. This study contributes to filling the research gap onthe role of bottom-up collective initiatives in changing greenconsumption lifestyles in rural communities.]]>
