Trainees play an important role in supporting hotel operations, particularly in five-star hotels that maintain high service standards. However, differences in trainees' ability to adapt to demanding work environments and maintain performance throughout training remain a significant challenge in the hospitality industry. The aim of this study is to examine how trainee performance at five-star hotels in Bali is impacted by self-efficacy, self-esteem, and work environment. This study is interesting since it simultaneously examines the work environment and psychological aspects as drivers of trainee success, an area that has not gotten much attention in hospitality research. 121 trainees from operational departments of a five-star hotel in Bali were chosen by proportional stratified random selection for this study, which used a causal quantitative research design with a survey technique. The analysis of data was performed using multiple linear regression technique. The results show that while self-esteem has a good but negligible impact on trainee performance, self-efficacy and the workplace have a positive and substantial influence. Additionally, the work environment, self-efficacy, and self-esteem all significantly impact trainee performance at the same time, accounting for 50.7% of the variance. These results highlight how crucial it is to boost trainees' self-efficacy and create a positive work environment in order to improve trainee performance in the hospitality sector.
