Students’ learning motivation is an important factor influencing the effectiveness of geography learning. The availability and quality of learning media play a significant role in supporting this process. Therefore, the integration of technology-based learning media, particularly Augmented Reality (AR) designed according to Generation Z characteristics, is expected to enhance students’ motivation by presenting learning materials in an interactive and engaging manner. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The participants consisted of 50 students, with 20 assigned to the experimental group and 30 to the control group, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a learning motivation questionnaire and a student response questionnaire regarding the use of AR media. Data analysis included validity, reliability, normality, and homogeneity tests, followed by paired-sample and independent-sample t-tests using IBM SPSS Statistics Version 25. The results showed that the instrument was valid with 19 valid items and highly reliable, with a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.884. The paired-sample t-test showed no significant difference in the control group (p = 0.419 > 0.05), while a significant increase was found in the experimental group (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The independent-sample t-test also indicated a significant difference between the groups (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Furthermore, student responses reached 84.93%, categorized as very positive. These findings demonstrate that Gen Z-oriented AR learning media significantly enhances students’ motivation to learn geography at MAN 1 East Lombok.
