Digital-Based Curriculum Management in Islamic Boarding Schools: A Study of Raudlotu Firqotin Najiyah, Tanjungsari, Tersono, Batang in Society 5.0

Abstract

The Society 5.0 era is driving Islamic educational institutions, including Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren), to undergo digital-based curriculum management transformation to improve the quality of education. As traditional Islamic educational institutions, Islamic boarding schools are expected to integrate digital technology into their curriculum management systems without compromising the Islamic values that characterize their educational traditions. This study aims to describe the implementation of digital-based curriculum management in improving the quality of Islamic education at the Raudlotu Firqotin Najiyyah Islamic Boarding School in Tanjungsari, Tersono, Batang, and to identify the factors supporting and hindering its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach using field research. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data credibility was strengthened through source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that the transformation toward digital-based curriculum management was achieved through the integration of technology into instructional planning, the use of digital platforms as learning media, the digitization of academic administration, and the utilization of digital assessment applications. This transformation contributed to greater effectiveness in curriculum management, improved accessibility of learning resources, enhanced digital competencies among teachers and students, and improved educational services at the Raudlotu Firqotin Najiyyah Islamic Boarding School. The supporting factors included institutional commitment, technological development, and the readiness of educational stakeholders, while the main challenges involved human resource capacity, technological infrastructure, and adaptation to changes in digital-based educational management.
