<![CDATA[Character formation is a central aim of education because it concerns students’ ability to recognize values, internalize them, and translate them into conduct. This article analyzes the foundations, principles, methods, stages, and implications of Islamic counseling for students’ character development. It employs a qualitative descriptive literature review drawing on the Qur’an, hadith, books on Islamic guidance and counseling, character education, and relevant educational literature. The sources were analyzed through reduction, thematic categorization, interpretation, and conceptual synthesis. The review indicates that Islamic counseling regards students as persons endowed with an innate disposition, reason, freedom of choice, moral responsibility, and spiritual needs. Character development can be fostered by integrating role modeling, dialogical advice, habituation, self-reflection, worship practices, self-control, and collaboration among counselors, teachers, families, and the school environment. Its effectiveness depends on counselor competence, an empathic counseling relationship, respect for students’ developmental stages, and the translation of religious values into observable behavior. Islamic counseling may therefore function as a preventive, developmental, and curative framework for cultivating religiosity, honesty, discipline, responsibility, care, and resilience.]]>
