This study aims to conduct a literature review on the effectiveness of the phonics method in improving reading skills in elementary school students. The phonics method is one of the important approaches to maximizing children's language skills, which focuses on learning the alphabet and teaching reading by connecting letter sounds. Through a literature search, this study presents results related to the theory and basic concepts of the phonics method, the application of the phonics method in learning in elementary schools, and the effect of the phonics method on the reading skills of elementary school students. The results show that the phonics method can make a positive contribution to improving the reading skills of elementary school students, including improving the reading skills of students with disabilities, dyslexic children, and students with disabilities in elementary schools.
