Abstract

This research is driven by the low learning outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) among fourth-grade students at SDN 07 Dungkan, where 76% of students failed to meet the minimum mastery criteria (KKM). This issue stemmed from a teacher-centered approach dominated by lectures, leading to passive student engagement and lack of focus. The objective of this study was to improve student learning outcomes by implementing the Reading Aloud method supported by Microsoft PowerPoint media. The methodology employed was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 25 fourth-grade students. Data were collected through observations and evaluation tests, then analyzed to measure the classical completeness and N-Gain score. The results showed a significant improvement across cycles. The average class score increased from 59.28 in the pre-cycle to 66.08 in Cycle I, and reached 82.00 in Cycle II. Furthermore, the percentage of students who achieved mastery rose from 24% (6 students) to 80% (22 students) by the end of the second cycle. The N-Gain score also improved from 29.91% to 57.29%, indicating enhanced effectiveness of the learning strategy. The study concludes that the integration of Reading Aloud and PowerPoint effectively boosts students' engagement and conceptual understanding of IPAS.
