This research is motivated by the low problem-solving ability of students in the science digestive system material, indicated by the difficulty in understanding contextual questions and connecting them to scientific concepts. The purpose of the study is to describe students' problem-solving abilities and identify the factors that influence them. This study uses a quantitative descriptive research method involving 30 eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Sidoarjo. Data were collected through multiple-choice tests based on Polya indicators, questionnaires, and interviews. The results show that students' problem-solving abilities are in the low category (average 60%), with details: understanding the problem 53%, planning a solution 63%, implementing the plan 57%, and reviewing 69%. Influencing factors consist of internal (48%) and external (52%), with external factors being more dominant. This indicates students' difficulties in solving contextual problems, so it is recommended to apply the Problem Based Learning model to improve problem-solving abilities.
