<![CDATA[This study describes efforts to improve students' literacy at SDN 2 Tanggung through the Calis Class program. Calis Class (Reading and Writing Class) is a structured literacy program facilitated by student-assistant educators (mahasiswa asistensi), designed to improve students' reading and writing skills through enjoyable and systematic activities. The program was conducted once a week every Monday, with sessions lasting 30–60 minutes during dedicated literacy time. A total of nine students participated in this program. Initial observations revealed that many students were unable to read fluently, struggled to recognize letters, and read haltingly. Activities in each session included shared reading, new vocabulary introduction, spelling practice, and guided reading using a specially developed Calis Class handbook. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach. Results indicate that the Calis Class program positively impacted students' literacy skills, evidenced by increased reading fluency and letter recognition among participants. The program is planned to continue as it has proven to foster a culture of literacy in the classroom.]]>
