Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in Pancasila Education caused by the lack of active student involvement during the learning process. The study aimed to describe the improvement of students’ learning outcomes through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The PBL model was chosen because it emphasizes solving real-life problems individually or in groups, thereby encouraging students to participate actively in learning activities. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques included test and non-test methods. The research subjects consisted of the classroom teacher as the observer, the researcher as the practitioner, and 25 third-grade students of UPT SD Negeri 12 Pagaruyung, Tanah Datar Regency. The results showed continuous improvement in each cycle. In Cycle I Meeting I, the teaching module aspect obtained 83.3%, while the teacher and student aspects reached 78.5%, with an average learning outcome score of 64.92 categorized as low. In Cycle I Meeting II, the teaching module aspect increased to 91.6%, the teacher and student aspects improved to 89.2%, and the average learning outcome score rose to 78.56 categorized as fair. In Cycle II Meeting I, the teaching module aspect reached 95.8%, the teacher and student aspects achieved 96.4%, and the average learning outcome score increased to 90 categorized as good. Therefore, the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model was proven to significantly and sustainably improve the Pancasila Education learning outcomes of third-grade students.
