Education plays an important role in shaping students’ character, not only in intellectual aspects but also in moral and spiritual aspects. In Islamic education, a religious school environment becomes a means of instilling religious values through habituation, teacher role modeling, and religious activities. This study focuses on the role of the religious school environment at MTs Perguruan Mu’allimat Cukir Jombang, its role in improving students’ Islamic character, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors. The purpose of this study is to describe the role of the religious school environment in improving students’ Islamic character in depth.This study used a qualitative approach with an ethnographic type of research. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while the data were analyzed descriptively to understand the phenomena occurring in the field.The results showed that the religious school environment played an effective role in improving students’ Islamic character through the habituation of worship, discipline, and good morals in daily life. Religious activities, habituation of Islamic behavior, and teacher role modeling became the main factors in shaping students’ character. Supporting factors included teacher role models and a religious school atmosphere, while the inhibiting factors were outside environmental influences, gadget use, differences in students’ backgrounds, and the lack of awareness among some students.
