<![CDATA[This study aims to examine the role of reading literacy as a foundation for the language skills of primary school students through a literature review. The study employed qualitative methods with bibliographic research, based on relevant scientific journal articles and academic books published between 2020 and 2025. Data were obtained through a literature search in Google Scholar, adhering to specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study's results indicate that reading literacy plays a crucial role in improving critical thinking, language skills, learning outcomes, and communication skills in primary school students. School literacy programs, reading habits, library use, and participatory learning strategies have .been shown to increase students' interest in and skills in reading. However, students' reading skills remain low due to factors such as a lack of interest in reading, the use of electronic devices, insufficient parental attention, and a scarcity of literacy resources. Therefore, the support of schools, teachers, families, and the community is needed to create a positive and sustainable literacy culture that improves the language skills of primary school students.]]>
