<![CDATA[This study aims to analyze the concept of hedonism from the perspective of Tafsir Al-Munīr by Wahbah Az-Zuhaili through an examination of Qur’anic verses related to consumptive and materialistic behavior in the modern era. The phenomenon of hedonism has increasingly developed alongside the advancement of digital technology, social media, and global consumer culture, which encourage people to make worldly pleasure, luxury, and social validation the primary orientation of life. The culture of flexing, impulsive consumption, and the pursuit of social status through digital media represent forms of hedonistic behavior that contribute to moral and spiritual crises in modern society. This research employs a qualitative approach with a library research method and thematic interpretation (maudhu‘i) approach. The primary data source is Tafsir Al-Munīr fi al-‘Aqidah wa al-Syarī‘ah wa al-Manhaj by Wahbah Az-Zuhaili, while secondary data are obtained from journal articles, books, and previous relevant studies. Data were analyzed using content analysis to understand the meanings of the Qur’anic verses and their relevance to contemporary social phenomena. The findings reveal that hedonism in the Qur’anic perspective is reflected through several key concepts, namely isrāf, tabdzīr, lahwun wa la‘bun, at-takāthur, fakhūr, and riyā’. These concepts represent excessive behavior, wastefulness, obsession with social status, showing-off culture, and spiritual negligence in modern society. Through Tafsir Al-Munīr, Wahbah Az-Zuhaili offers solutions in the form of moderation (wasathiyyah), strengthening spirituality, proportional wealth management, and the cultivation of simplicity and social responsibility. This study confirms that Qur’anic values remain highly relevant as ethical guidance in responding to the consumptive and materialistic culture of modern society.]]>
