This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ learning independence in Pancasila Education learning in Grade V at SDN 053 Cisitu. The background of this research is the low level of students’ learning independence, which is characterized by passive learning behavior, dependence on the teacher, and low participation in classroom activities that are still dominated by lecture-based instruction. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of an experimental group and a control group, both of which were given pre-tests and post-tests to measure students’ learning independence. The instruments used were questionnaires and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test with SPSS. The results showed that learning independence improved in both groups; however, the improvement in the experimental group was higher than in the control group. The post-test mean score of the experimental group was 77.97, while the control group was 71.80. The hypothesis test showed a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05, meaning that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model has a positive and significant effect on students’ learning independence in Pancasila Education.
