Abstract

The implementation of a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with ethnoscience has been proven to improve the quality of learning by leveraging local cultural values. This study aims to analyze and summarize various literature discussing the application of ethnoscience in the context of chemistry education. The method used is a literature review consisting of four steps: identification, screening, selection, and evaluation. Through a review of 30 articles indexed over the past five years, evidence indicates that ethnoscience not only enriches students’ learning experiences but also helps them understand scientific concepts through their cultural background. The research findings indicate that integrating ethnoscience into a Problem-Based Learning model can enhance student engagement in understanding these concepts while encouraging them to think critically when facing challenges.
