The Merdeka Curriculum is an innovative educational policy in Indonesia designed to provide greater flexibility for schools in implementing learning that is contextual, adaptive, and student-centered. This article aims to examine the challenges and opportunities associated with the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in the field of education, particularly in early childhood education (PAUD). The method used in this study is a literature review by analyzing various scientific sources, policy documents, and relevant research findings. The results indicate that the Merdeka Curriculum offers significant opportunities to enhance teachers’ creativity and autonomy, strengthen students’ character development through the Pancasila Student Profile, and promote meaningful project-based learning. In addition, the flexibility of this curriculum enables teachers to adjust learning materials according to the needs and developmental stages of students. However, its implementation also faces several challenges, including limited teacher understanding of the new curriculum concept, uneven human resource readiness, and inadequate facilities in certain areas. Furthermore, the shift from conventional teaching methods to more flexible and student-centered approaches requires time and continuous adaptation. Therefore, collaboration among the government, educational institutions, and society is essential to ensure successful implementation. With proper management and support, the Merdeka Curriculum has great potential to improve the quality of education in Indonesia sustainably, especially in early childhood education.
