This research was conducted based on the problem that science learning in elementary schools, particularly on the topic of the human respiratory system, is often delivered through conventional methods and less engaging learning media, making it difficult for students to understand abstract concepts. The study aimed to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media using Assemblr Edu and to determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving the conceptual understanding of fifth-grade students at UPTD SD Inpres Oesapa. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The subjects involved expert validators, a small-group trial of 10 students, and a large-group trial involving 40 students divided into experimental and control classes. Data were collected through validation sheets, student response questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, pretests, posttests, and documentation. The results showed that the developed media was highly valid, with validation scores of 95% from media experts and 93% from material experts. The practicality test indicated very positive student responses, while the effectiveness test demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ conceptual understanding. The experimental class achieved an N-Gain score of 0.5286, which was higher than the control class score of 0.3113. Therefore, the Augmented Reality learning media based on Assemblr Edu is considered valid, practical, and effective for improving students’ conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system in elementary science learning.
