The research entitled "The Application of the Teams Games Tournament Cooperative Learning Model in Indonesian Language Learning to Improve the Beginning Reading Skills of First Grade Students of GMIT Namosain Elementary School" by Melly Marlianti Riwu (NIM 2201140007), motivated by the low beginning reading skills of first grade students of GMIT Namosain Elementary School in the 2025/2026 academic year. This study aims to improve the beginning reading skills of first grade students of GMIT Namosain Elementary School after the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model. The research approach used is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects in this study were all 23 first grade students of GMIT Namosain Elementary School, consisting of 9 male students and 14 female students. The data collection techniques used were observation, tests, and documentation. This research was conducted in 2 cycles, where in the first cycle the students' beginning reading skills obtained a percentage of completion of 43.48%. Meanwhile, in cycle II, students' initial reading ability increased with a completion percentage reaching 82.61%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model can improve the initial reading ability of first-grade students at GMIT Namosain Elementary School.
