Deep learning is an approach implemented in the Independent Curriculum (Curriculum Merdeka) to create meaningful, mindful, and enjoyable learning experiences. This research was conducted to examine the challenges of implementing the deep learning approach in Indonesian language lessons at SMP Negeri 2 Socah. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the application of deep learning in Indonesian language learning is evident through the use of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Project Based Learning (PjBL) models, discussions, learning reflections, and project based assignments. However, its implementation still faces various obstacles, including teachers' limited understanding of the deep learning concept, suboptimal policy dissemination, diverse student abilities, the complexity of learning administration, and suboptimal use of technology. Nevertheless, teachers have attempted to address these challenges through learning assistance, material repetition, learning differentiation, and the creation of a pleasant learning environment. The research findings indicate that the successful implementation of deep learning requires ongoing training support, strengthening digital literacy, and increasing teacher capacity in planning student centered learning.
