<![CDATA[This research is motivated by the declining interest of the younger generation in local wisdom due to globalization and technological developments. BPS data (2024) shows that only 4.00% of young people are involved in art performances, with a local wisdom participation rate in North Sumatra of 21.32%. This study aims to determine the level of interest of the younger generation in the preservation of traditional dance and music at the Kurnia Foundation Non-Formal Education Institution, Tanjung Morawa. The approach used is descriptive quantitative with a saturated sample of 30 respondents. The instrument is a Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 30 valid statements with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability value of 0.927. The results of the trend test show that the indicator of feelings of pleasure is in the low category (33.3%), interest is in the high and medium categories (30%), attention is in the very high category (26.67%), and involvement is in the very high and high categories (33.3%). Overall, the interest of the younger generation is in the high category (33.3%). This study shows that the Kurnia Foundation Non-Formal Education Institution has played an effective role in fostering the interest of the younger generation in the preservation of local wisdom. It is recommended that institutions continue to develop more creative and innovative preservation programs to increase the sense of happiness of the younger generation which is still in the low category, as well as maintain and strengthen the aspects of attention and involvement which are already high.]]>
