The sub-optimal postural balance capability among students is an issue frequently encountered in primary schools, characterized by a lack of stability during physical activities. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the traditional game of bakiak on improving students' body balance capability. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 32 fifth-grade students from class V-C at SD Negeri 118 Palembang, selected through a cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques involved tests and measurements using the Stork Stand Test instrument administered during the pretest and posttest phases. Data were inferentially analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality prerequisite test and the Paired Sample t-Test hypothesis test assisted by SPSS version 25. The results demonstrated that the students' body balance capability experienced a significant improvement, indicated by an increase in the mean score from 5.2516 seconds to 8.0041 seconds, with a net margin gain of 2.7525 seconds. The t-test analysis generated a t-value of -63.648 with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 < 0.05, thereby rejecting the null hypothesis (H₀) and accepting the alternative hypothesis (H₁). In conclusion, the use of the traditional game of bakiak is proven effective in improving students' body balance capability and can serve as an alternative for local wisdom-based learning innovation in physical education subjects in primary schools.
