<![CDATA[Art education in elementary schools plays an important role in fostering students’ creativity, self-expression, and imagination. However, classroom practices are of-ten oriented toward final products and imitation, limiting students’ opportunities to explore and develop their own ideas. This study aims to examine the exploration of students’ imagination through free drawing activities in elementary school art edu-cation based on a synthesis of previous research findings. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were col-lected from scientific articles indexed in Google Scholar and national journals based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria and were analyzed using content analysis. The findings indicate that free drawing activities provide students with opportunities to develop ideas, enhance creativity, strengthen self-expression, and improve creative thinking skills, resulting in more original artwork. Furthermore, the effectiveness of free drawing is influenced by the teacher’s role as a facilitator, a supportive learning environment, and the use of appropriate instructional media and teaching methods. In conclusion, free drawing is an effective instructional strategy for fostering students’ imagination and creativity through active, student-centered learning experiences in elementary school art education.]]>
