<![CDATA[The focus of this study is “What are the news listening skills of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 in Kupang City when listening to news via audio recordings?” The purpose of this study is to describe the news listening skills of 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 in Kupang City when listening to news via audio recordings. The theory used in this study is learning theory. Learning theory is used to explain how the learning process occurs, including how students receive, understand, and process information conveyed through various methods and media, one of which is audio media. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive research employing observation, testing, and documentation techniques on 25 students in Class XI-I. The data was analyzed based on news elements (accuracy in identifying news) and news listening skills (comprehension of content, logical interpretation, accuracy in grasping content, and sustained concentration). Based on the analysis of 25 students in Class XI-I at SMA Negeri 4 in Kupang, the results showed that 68% met the minimum passing criteria (KKM), with the highest percentage (60%) classified as “very good” and 32% as “less than good.” The final conclusion of the study states that the news listening skills of Grade XI-I students at SMA Negeri 4 in Kupang City are still inadequate. This is attributed to the challenges faced by students, the elements of the news, and their news listening skills.]]>
