This study aimed to determine the effect of weight training using dumbbells and resistance bands on the overhand volleyball serve ability of students participating in the volleyball extracurricular program at MTs Miftahul Khaer, as well as to identify the more effective training method for improving overhand serve performance. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a Two-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population consisted of all students participating in the volleyball extracurricular program at MTs Miftahul Khaer. The sample comprised 30 students who were divided into two groups, namely the dumbbell training group and the resistance band training group, using the Ordinal Pairing technique. The research instrument was an overhand volleyball serve skill test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing through paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that dumbbell training had a significant effect on overhand serve ability, with a t-value of 13.287 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Resistance band training also had a significant effect on overhand serve ability, with a t-value of 10.356 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Furthermore, the independent sample t-test revealed a significant difference between the two training methods, with a t-value of 3.092 and a significance value of 0.004 < 0.05. The dumbbell training group achieved a higher post-test mean score of 21.4 compared to 18.5 in the resistance band training group. Therefore, it can be concluded that both training methods are effective in improving overhand serve ability; however, dumbbell training is more effective than resistance band training for students participating in the volleyball extracurricular program at MTs Miftahul Khaer.
