Abstract

Exposure to physical factors is one of the main problems in the implementation of industrial hygiene, especially in micro, small, and medium-sized furniture enterprises (MSMEs), which often have limited control over their working environments. This study aims to analyze occupational health risks associated with exposure to physical factors and to map the spatial distribution of these risks using a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) approach integrated with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study employed an analytical observational design with a mixed-methods approach, incorporating direct measurements of noise, vibration, thermal work climate, and lighting using calibrated industrial hygiene instruments, supported by field observations and interviews. The HRA results indicated that noise constituted the physical hazard with the highest risk level at several workstations, whereas vibration, thermal climate, and lighting were classified as low to moderate risk. Spatial mapping using ArcGIS showed that the highest concentration of risk was located in the wood-cutting area. This study contributes to the development of spatially based industrial hygiene evaluations as a foundation for more targeted and effective occupational safety and health (OSH) control strategies.
