<![CDATA[Online media often writes word combinations inconsistently, blurring the distinction between phrases and compound words and potentially causing semantic ambiguity. This study aims to describe the forms of syntactic construction errors resulting from the failure to distinguish between phrases and compound words, as well as to explain the linguistic factors causing such issues. A descriptive qualitative method with a structural linguistic approach was applied, using techniques of direct element analysis, insertion test, expansion test, and substitution test. The data consisted of four news articles from the national news portal detikcom, published 5–7 July 2026. The results revealed a tendency toward noun stacking and interference from foreign terms adopted directly without syntactic editing. In contrast, compound words referring to standard legal and bureaucratic terms tended to be structurally stable and error-free. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for developing syntax teaching materials based on real language error analysis in mass media.]]>
