Abstract

This study aims to analyze the suitability of the Indonesian Language Student Worksheets (LKPD) for eighth-grade junior high school students with the principles of text-based learning in the Independent Curriculum, while also mapping aspects deemed optimal and those requiring improvement. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with document analysis, this research examined 24 LKPD documents covering observational report texts, advertisements, and popular scientific articles from two junior high schools. Data collection was conducted through documentation studies using a special assessment rubric based on the text-based learning parameters in the national curriculum. The data analysis process involved data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity tested using expert judgment techniques by expert validators on three representative LKPD samples. The results showed that the LKPD for observational report texts achieved a suitability percentage of 72.50% (appropriate category), advertisement texts achieved a suitability percentage of 85.36% (high suitability category), and popular scientific articles achieved a suitability percentage of 81.79% (high suitability category). Based on the average of all analysis components, scaffolding achieved the highest percentage of conformity at 100%, followed by conformity with the Independent Curriculum (95.00%). Conversely, aspects of text production activities (46.67%) and linguistic characteristics of texts (60.83%) were identified as components requiring improvement. Overall, the Indonesian Language Worksheets (LKPD) for Grade VIII demonstrated a good level of conformity with the principles of text-based learning, although improvements in several areas remain urgent. These findings are expected to serve as evaluation material for educators and compilers in improving the quality of worksheets, as input for schools in selecting relevant teaching materials, and as an academic reference for future researchers expanding similar studies.
