<![CDATA[This study aimed to describe: first, the level of personal letter writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi before the implementation of the Outdoor Learning method; second, the level of personal letter writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi after the implementation of the Outdoor Learning method; and third, the effect of the Outdoor Learning method on the personal letter writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi. The population of this study consisted of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi enrolled in the 2025/2026 academic year. The data in this study were the scores obtained from the students' personal letter writing tests. The research instrument used was a performance test in the form of a personal letter writing task. The data were analyzed using percentage formulas, mean score formulas, prerequisite tests for data analysis, and the t-test. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the personal letter writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi before the implementation of the Outdoor Learning method were classified as Fair. Meanwhile, the Minimum Learning Achievement Criteria (KKTP) applied at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi was 75, which falls into the More than Fair qualification. Second, the personal letter writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi after the implementation of the Outdoor Learning method were classified as Very Good. Therefore, it can be concluded that the personal letter writing skills of the seventh-grade students had achieved the established KKTP after the implementation of the Outdoor Learning method. Third, based on the results of the t-test, it was concluded that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted at the 95% significance level and degrees of freedom (df) = n − 1 because t-count was greater than t-table (14.50 > 1.99). Thus, it can be concluded that the personal letter writing skills of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Bukittinggi taught using the Outdoor Learning method were significantly better than those taught without the Outdoor Learning method.]]>
