ANALISIS DEFECT PADA HASIL GERINDA FORTUNA FRAME SET DENGAN METODE DMAIC DI PT X

ABSTRAK Peningkatan kualitas produksi menjadi tantangan utama dalam industri manufaktur, termasuk pada proses gerinda Fortuna Frame Set di PT X yang masih menghasilkan tingkat defect relatif tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis penyebab defect dan memberikan solusi perbaikan menggunakan pendekatan DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Hasil analisis menunjukkan dua jenis defect dominan, yaitu Scratch Marks (bekas goresan) dan Waviness (permukaan bergelombang) dengan total 105 kasus dari 2218 unit produksi. Perhitungan menghasilkan nilai DPMO sebesar 23.600 dengan level sigma 3,45, menandakan kapabilitas proses masih perlu ditingkatkan. Upaya perbaikan yang diusulkan mencakup perawatan mesin berkala, pembersihan material, penerapan teknik gerinda yang konsisten, serta pelatihan operator. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa metode DMAIC efektif dalam mengidentifikasi akar penyebab defect sekaligus merumuskan strategi perbaikan. Dengan implementasi berkelanjutan, perusahaan dapat menekan jumlah defect, meningkatkan kualitas produk, dan memperkuat daya saing. ABSTRACT Improving production quality remains a major challenge in the manufacturing industry, including in the grinding process of the Fortuna Frame Set at PT X, which still shows a relatively high defect rate. This study aims to analyze the causes of defects and provide improvement solutions using the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). The analysis results indicate two dominant types of defects, namely Scratch Marks and Waviness, with a total of 105 cases out of 2,218 production units. The calculation resulted in a DPMO value of 23,600 with a sigma level of 3.45, indicating that process capability still needs improvement. Proposed improvements include regular machine maintenance, material cleaning, consistent grinding techniques, and operator training. This study demonstrates that the DMAIC method is effective in identifying the root causes of defects as well as formulating improvement strategies. With continuous implementation, the company can reduce the number of defects, improve product quality, and strengthen competitiveness.
