Abstract

The phenomenon of digital da'wah on Instagram has brought about significant changes in the transmission of hadith and the construction of Islamic legal authority among the digital generation. This study aims to analyze the forms of mediatization of hadith on Instagram, identify the shift in Islamic legal authority that it causes, and examine the transformation of religious understanding that occurs in the digital generation due to this phenomenon. This study uses a qualitative method with a content analysis approach through systematic search for hadith content using hashtags #hadishukum on Instagram as an entrance to identify and analyze accounts that actively produce hadith-based Islamic legal content. The data was analyzed using the theory of religious mediatization to see how the logic of social media affects the production, simplification, and dissemination of legal hadiths in the digital space. The results of the study show that Instagram no longer functions just as a medium for delivering da'wah, but has become an actor who shapes the way hadith is understood and used as the legitimacy of Islamic law. Legal hadiths tend to be packaged in a fragmentary, emotional, and virality-oriented manner so that they have the potential to give birth to textual and instant religious understanding. The study also found a shift in Islamic legal authority from traditional scholars to popularity-based religious influencers. This research contributes to the development of the study of hadith and contemporary Islamic law by placing digital media as an important factor in the transformation of authority and religious understanding of Muslim society in the digital era.
