Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a disease characterized by a progressive decline in kidney function, often accompanied by anemia due to low hemoglobin (Hb) levels. Hemodialysis is a therapy used to replace kidney function and has the potential to affect Hb levels. This study aims to determine changes in hemoglobin levels before and after hemodialysis in CKD patients. The study was conducted at H. Abdul Manan Simatupang Kisaran Regional Hospital with a quantitative design to observe hemoglobin levels before and after hemodialysis. A total of 35 CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis were taken as samples using a purposive sampling technique with certain inclusion criteria. Hb level data were collected from medical records and analyzed using a paired t-test. The results showed that Hb levels before hemodialysis had an average of 8.217 g/dL and increased to 8.831 g/dL after hemodialysis. The statistical test showed a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there was a significant difference between Hb levels before and after hemodialysis. The conclusion of this study is that hemodialysis has a significant effect on increasing hemoglobin levels in patients with chronic kidney failure.
