Abstract

Hybrid maize is one of the strategic food commodities that plays an important role in supporting food security and improving farmers' income. The success of hybrid maize farming is determined not only by production levels but also by its financial feasibility and its ability to adapt to changing farming conditions. This study aimed to analyze production costs, revenue, income, financial feasibility, and the sensitivity of hybrid maize farming in the Setia Farmer Group, Sihare'o III Hilibadalu Village, Ma'u District, Nias Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach using a case study method. Data analysis included production cost analysis, revenue analysis, income analysis, Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio) analysis, and sensitivity analysis. The analysis results showed that the total production cost reached IDR 24,167,000, total revenue amounted to IDR 44,800,000, and income was IDR 20,633,000 for one planting season. The obtained R/C Ratio was 1.854, indicating that hybrid maize farming was financially feasible. Sensitivity analysis showed that the farming system remained financially feasible under three scenarios: a 10% decrease in selling price, a 10% increase in production costs, and a 10% decrease in production yield, with R/C Ratio values of 1.668, 1.685, and 1.668, respectively, all of which indicated that the farming system remained financially feasible. The analysis results further showed that implementing a mutual cooperation (gotong royong) farming management system using a cash-cost approach can serve as an efficient and financially feasible alternative for farmer group management and has the potential to be applied to farmer groups with similar characteristics.
