<![CDATA[Operating system installation skills are a crucial core competency in the field of information technology. However, the learning process often faces challenges related to limited technical documentation and the risk of damage to the host computer system. This study aims to comprehensively describe the procedural steps for installing the open-source Linux Mint operating system using the Oracle VirtualBox virtualization platform, while also analyzing the operational relationship between the two. The method used was a laboratory experiment testing the installation on a virtual machine configured with 3 GB of RAM, a 2-core CPU, and 30 GB of storage on mid-range hardware. The results showed that the installation process was successful, smooth, and stable, taking between 30 and 45 minutes. Post-installation testing confirmed that all desktop interface functionalities and navigation menus responded normally to user interactions without any errors. This study concludes that the combination of Linux Mint and VirtualBox has proven to be a secure, flexible, and effective “safe-sandbox” testing environment for teaching operating system basics to novice users.]]>
