The use of plastic polybags in mangrove nurseries poses environmental problems because they are not easily biodegradable. The National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) estimates that Indonesia's waste generation will reach 50.06 million tons in 2025, with approximately 40% unmanaged and most of it ending up polluting the sea. Therefore, an alternative planting medium is needed for mangrove seed cultivation. The methods used include carrageenan extraction, bioplastic film production, ecopolybag printing, and physical and biodegradation testing. Two formulations were tested: one without chitosan and one with the addition of 3 grams of chitosan. The results showed that the ecopolybag without chitosan was more flexible and dissolved in three hours, while the chitosan ecopolybag was stiffer and dissolved in three and a half hours. Both formulations completely degraded within seven days. This research proves that Eucheuma cottoni can be used as a base material for effective and environmentally friendly biodegradable ecopolybags to support mangrove restoration
