Stunting remains a public health problem, including in Padang City, and is associated with mothers’ limited knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding (CF). This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of an Android-based mobile application in improving mothers’ knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and CF compared with conventional education and to explore users’ experiences. A mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design was employed. A total of 162 mothers were divided into an intervention group and a control group, with 81 participants in each group. The intervention group received education through the application, whereas the control group received education using leaflets/booklets. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired t-test, independent t-test, and McNemar test, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed increases of 21.3 points in exclusive breastfeeding knowledge and 21.5 points in CF knowledge in the intervention group, compared with 7.5 and 7.6 points in the control group, respectively (p<0.001). Qualitative findings highlighted accessibility, multimodal materials, and interactive question-and-answer features. The Android-based mHealth application is more effective than conventional education in improving mothers’ knowledge of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding, supported by interactive features and multimodal content . It is recommended that primary healthcare centers adopt this application as a supporting educational tool while enhancing digital literacy and internet access. Future studies should examine its impact on behavioral changes and children’s nutritional status over the long term.
