Pemberdayaan PKK Desa Ngeni melalui sistem kompos dua tahap berbasis galon bekas dan larva black soldier fly

This community service activity was conducted to improve the knowledge and skills of PKK members in Ngeni Village, Wonotirto District, Blitar Regency, in managing household organic waste through a two-stage composting system using used water jugs and Black Soldier Fly larvae. The activity addressed limited community knowledge and the lack of simple technologies for organic waste processing. The program was implemented using a design thinking approach through the stages of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test, combined with training, practical activities, mentoring, and evaluation. Participants included 21 PKK members and 4 student assistants. The evaluation results showed increased understanding, as indicated by an average score improvement from 2.46 to 2.69 (9.43%). The activity also produced a two-stage composting prototype, compost from organic residues, and organic leachate that could be used as liquid fertilizer. The system demonstrated that simple community-based technology could support sustainable household organic waste management.
