The phenomenon of overstrength in concrete has become an important issue in construction management, particularly because it is closely related to material efficiency and environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the occurrence of the overstrength phenomenon and to calculate the material inefficiency and reduced profit arising from deviations in the use of operational materials from the mix design during the concrete production process at Batching Plant X. The data used in this study were obtained from compressive strength test results of f'c 65 MPa concrete cylinders at 28 days of age, supplied directly by Batching Plant X on Project X. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and quantitatively by comparing the actual field compressive strength with the Target Mean Compressive Strength (f'cr) planned in accordance with the SNI 2847:2013 specification guidelines. The results prove that deviations in mix proportions, particularly material additions due to corrections in aggregate water content that caused the ready mix party to use materials exceeding the initial design requirements, contribute directly to the occurrence of the overstrength phenomenon. This technically confirms the existence of material consumption inefficiency, which results in the wastage of material quantities as well as a decrease in production profit. Therefore, this study calculates the magnitude of the profit reduction resulting from this material inefficiency. This research is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 9, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, specifically target 9.4 concerning improving the efficiency of resource use in the construction industry to make it more sustainable and lower in carbon emissions.
