Smoking among adolescents is a public health concern that requires attention because it may increase the risk of health problems, particularly respiratory disorders. This Community Service Program aimed to improve students' knowledge and awareness of the dangers of smoking through a combination of flipchart-based education and a cigarette smoke simulation experiment using a simple lung model. The activity was conducted face-to-face on July 10, 2026, at SMK Negeri 01 Palopo, involving 32 tenth-grade students aged 15–16 years. The program employed educational-participatory, learning by doing, and evaluative approaches. The activities consisted of preparation, a pre-test, health education using flipcharts, a cigarette smoke simulation demonstration, discussion and question-and-answer sessions, and a post-test. The evaluation was conducted quantitatively by comparing students' pre-test and post-test results and qualitatively through observation of students' enthusiasm, participation, and engagement throughout the activities. The results indicated improved understanding of the harmful substances contained in cigarettes, the effects of smoking on lung health, and strengthened attitudes and commitment to reject smoking behavior. The simulation experiment provided a concrete learning experience that increased students' attention and awareness of the harmful effects of cigarette smoke exposure. The findings suggest that combining flipchart-based education with an experimental approach can serve as an interactive and effective educational strategy to improve students' knowledge and awareness of the dangers of smoking. The flipchart developed during the program was subsequently handed over to the school for continued use in health education activities.
