Burasse leaves (BL) are utilized by the community of Enrekang Regency as both a traditional fever remedy and a food source. This study aimed to determine the physical pharmacognostic characteristics and non-specific parameters of Burasse leaf extract from Enrekang (BLEE) as a raw material for natural medicine (RMNM). This experimental research involved preparing dried powder leaves, macerating it with 70% ethanol, and evaluating its physical pharmacognostic characteristics (PPC). The PPC evaluation included macroscopic and organoleptic identification of both the simplisia and the extract, alongside non-specific parameter (NSP) assays for moisture content (MC), total ash content (TAC), and acid-insoluble ash content (AIAC). Results showed that the dried simplisia leaves were triangular or ovate-lanceolate, 7–15 cm long, 5–9 cm wide, with entire margins, brownish-green color, and were odorless and tasteless. The extract was thick and viscous, blackish-brown, odorless, and tasteless. The NSP values were: MC = 2.183 ± 0.002%, TAC = 6.475 ± 0.001%, and AIAC = 1.065 ± 3.511%. In conclusion, these findings can serve as a quality standard reference for BLEE in developing natural medicine formulations.
