<![CDATA[Dating apps require users to make motivational choices while managing the impressions they convey to potential partners. This cross-sectional correlational study examined associations between activity-specific motivational experiences and assertive and defensive self-presentation among 235 Indonesian dating app users aged 18-40 years (M = 24.39, SD = 4.03) recruited through purposive sampling. Participants completed Indonesian adaptations of the 45-item Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) and the 63-item Self-Presentation Tactics Scale (SPTS). Because the distributions were non-normal, associations were tested using Spearman's rank-order correlations with 1,000-sample bias-corrected and accelerated bootstrap 95% confidence intervals. Value/usefulness (rₛ = .255, p < .001), perceived competence (rₛ = .188, p = .004), and interest/enjoyment (rₛ = .150, p = .021) were positively associated with assertive self-presentation. Relatedness was negatively associated with defensive self-presentation (rₛ = -.198, p = .002). All significant associations were small, and the remaining correlations were nonsignificant. The findings therefore support a dimension-specific, rather than global, relationship between motivational experiences and self-presentation tactics. Causal and population-level conclusions are precluded by the cross-sectional design and nonprobability sample. ]]>
